What is TactiX?

Project TactiX is a strategic auto-battler developed in Godot 4 by Aenigma Labs. Build your roster from 30 unique units, discover powerful trait synergies, and survive increasingly brutal waves of enemies.

The core loop is simple to learn but endlessly deep: buy units, position them on your 6×4 battlefield, activate synergy breakpoints, and watch the chaos unfold. Combine three identical units to upgrade them to star level — or lose everything trying.

Launching into Alpha in Q3 2026 with full PvE wave-survival, a ranked system, and rewards — PvP and Co-Op modes to follow.

v0.8 TactiX Comes Alive — Sound, VFX & The Full Game Loop Jun 2026
  • Sound & Music System: The game finally has a voice. Planning and combat each have their own dynamic music, and a full in-game audio mixer gives you complete control over the experience.
  • Visual Effects (VFX): Ability casts, death animations, and star upgrades now trigger dedicated visual effects. The battlefield breathes.
  • Abilities — Fully Reworked: All 27 abilities have been redesigned and are fully operational — proper targeting, damage scaling by star level, and status effect chaining all work as intended.
  • Enemy AI — Complete: The AI now builds thematic team compositions, scales difficulty through all 30 rounds, and adjusts unit count per round. A proper opponent from the very first fight.
  • Game Over & Victory Screens: Every run now has a proper ending. Win or lose, you get a dedicated resolution screen with your result clearly presented.
  • Trait Icons: Each origin and class displays its own icon in the synergy panel — cleaner and more readable at a glance.
  • Sprites & Upgrade Visuals: Unit sprites refreshed across the full roster. Star upgrades now trigger satisfying visual feedback when three identical units combine.
  • In-Game Settings Menu: Full pause menu accessible at any time — Audio, Video, Controls, and General options all in one place.
  • Save & Continue: Walk away and pick up exactly where you left off. Your board, bench, gold, and round number are all preserved between sessions.

  • Trait System – Fully Operational: All 15 traits live — 5 Origins, 8 Classes, 2 Special traits with real-time synergy tracking and breakpoint activation.
  • Ability System: 27 abilities complete with proper targeting, damage scaling by star level, and full status effect implementation (Stun, Slow, Freeze, Bleed, Shields).
  • 1,200+ Unique Character Sprites integrated with star level visual variants (1★/2★/3★).
  • Unit Inspection Panel: Right-click any unit for detailed stats, traits, and abilities on demand.
  • Combat & Balance: All mechanics functional — targeting, damage calculation, death handling, and victory/defeat detection.
v0.6 Visual Overhaul – First Playable Look Feb 2026
  • Character Sprites: All 30 units now have unique high-quality pixel artwork — replacing colored placeholder blocks.
  • Shop Redesign: Character portraits with name, cost, and trait info via hover tooltips.
  • Board & Bench Cleanup: Sprites centered and scaled correctly, labels hidden for a clean battlefield view.
  • Tooltip System: Foundation built for expanded unit information throughout the UI.

  • Visual Mana Bars: Blue progress bar under each unit's HP — always visible in combat.
  • Mana Generation: +10 mana per auto-attack, +8 mana on taking damage. Tanks get bonus mana from hits.
  • Auto-Cast at 100 Mana — abilities trigger automatically when ready.
  • 30+ Ability Functions: Full framework for Stun, Slow, Bleed, Burn, Shields, Dash, Lifesteal, Execute, Team Buffs, and more.
  • Mana Persistence: Mana carries between rounds as a strategic PvE feature.

  • Trait Synergy Display: Color-coded Bronze/Silver/Gold tiers based on breakpoint reached.
  • Live Updates: Trait panel refreshes instantly as you move units on and off the board.
  • Progress Tracking: Shows current count vs next breakpoint (e.g. "2/4").
  • Smart Sorting: Active traits always appear first, sorted by strength.
  • Hover Tooltips: Full trait description on mouse-over.
v0.4 Star Power – Progression System Live Jan 2026
  • Star Level System: Combine 3 identical units to upgrade. 3× 1★ → 1× 2★ (stats ×1.8). 3× 2★ → 1× 3★ (stats ×3.24).
  • Auto-Detection: Checks bench and board every 0.5s — combines instantly during planning or combat.
  • Full HP on Upgrade: Freshly upgraded units enter the fight at full strength.

  • 30 Unique Units now available in the shop with level-based spawn odds and cost-tier color coding.
  • Trait Synergies Active: 5 Origins × 7 Classes = 35+ unique synergy combinations at 2/4/6 breakpoints.

  • Grid System: 6×4 battlefield with precise snap-to-grid, player area (bottom 2 rows) vs enemy area (top 2 rows).
  • Unit System: 3 initial units with unique stats, team-based system, dynamic HP bars.
  • Combat System: Auto-targeting, attack range, attack speed, movement, and damage calculation.
  • Round System: Planning phase → Combat phase → Auto-continue with gold rewards.
  • Economy: Gold system, leveling (Level 1–9 = 1–9 max units), XP progression.
  • Built from zero Godot experience in a single session. Fully playable prototype.
